Right now more than 20 interesting projects/mashups have been created using the open movilforum APIs. Some APIs are totally free to use (no phone charges) others are have some SMS charges, users inside de Spanish phone network can register by sending a request to open@movilforum.com and ask for a demo account which includes free credit to test your mashups. Users outside of Spain can still register and receive the free credit, but they’d still have to pay for the international charges from their network of origin to the Spanish network.

Below you can find a brief presentation of the APIs with links to their wikis documentation (if available in English)

Retrieval of SMS from an e-mail address

Automatically receive via email all the sms messages sent to a mobile number. You can obtain this (Spanish) mobile number free of charge following a simple registration procedure.

Copiagenda (SIM AddressBook access from internet)

Internet API that can access the SIM card’s (and handset’s) address books and make a backup copy of them on the web (only for Movistar users). The repository copy can be accessed through the http API and also through SyncML

SMS 2.0

Python API for movistar’s SMS2.0 service, which combines some of the functionalities of Internet Messengers (list of buddies, presence, instant messaging) with the reach of SMS. The http API allows sending and receiving Instant Messages, managing buddy lists (add, approve, request, remove, etc.), and presence information (view other’s state, change my own, etc).
If one buddy is not registered with SMS2.0, he will receive the messages sent to him as a regular SMS, his SMS answers will appear as Instant Messages to the originator.
